Hi March...Goodbye March...That Was Quick
I love this time of year for so many reasons. The weather, the lovely colors, fresh smell of flowers and of course the start of a new year in my life.
I remember during my 20s thinking people my age (39) seemed so old to me. I looked at them as if I would never get here and wondered how I would feel. So how do I feel? Raw. You must be thinking what the heck does that mean?!
When you reach your mid to late 30s there's a sense of not caring what anyone says or thinks. It's a pretty raw emotion and I love it.
Here are some things the past year taught me:
***It's okay to ask for a hug and admit having a bad day. Hey, life is not perfect and just like the rest I have my really really really bad days. It's okay...that too shall pass.
***Remember all the great things God has done in my life. I had the beautiful miracle of having God heal my niece from almost dying and that's something I can't forget. God still holds the throne and miracles still happen.
***There's no specific way to live in faith. Yes, I still post sexy pics, yes I still read the bible and then bump some Cardi B the next day. Does that make me any less than a person who goes to church every other day?No...God is working with my body and soul and it's a process.
***Being a single mom is just a title and I only use it if necessary. I feel like many women use it way too often. Yes, I am a single mom who supports her son on her own but I do receive help from the great peeps in my family. My nephews, parents, nieces and even exes have seriously come through. This year taught me that I am not in this alone.
***My son keeps me alive and young. Boyyyyy this kid is something else. He keeps me busy and that's good. I needed a challenge.
