My Thoughts On This Election
I'll start by saying there's a reason why this page goes under Jessica Reyes. It's mine. My opinions and where I'm able to spill my heart, share things and thoughts without holding back. If you are here, love me or hate me there's something to be said that you took the time to read this so THANK YOU.
Now to the good stuff.
I'm disgusted. I'm hurt. I'm disappointment yet not surprised of the outcome. Donald Trump as president. Yes, that's who this country decided to go with.
As a woman...as a Latin woman who's been in a relationship with a white privileged man who turned out to be quite the racist... hearing the way men like Donald Trump feel about women, about Latinos doesn't come as a surprise. Stan Van Gundy nailed it today when he said '
It’s incredible. I don’t know how you go about it, if you’re a person of color today or a Latino. Because white society just said to you, again — not like we haven’t forever — but again, and emphatically, that I don’t think you deserve equality. We don’t think you deserve respect. And the same with women. That’s what we say today, as a country. We should be ashamed for what we stand for as the United States today.'
As I sit here thinking about my sons future. The nation he will be raised in I can't help but feel sad. What happened to this nation is just that 'SAD'....I hope Sebastian grows up to be kind. Respectful towards women and every race. After all...he's a biracial baby.
Our nation lost decency and hope but I still believe in humanity. There are many of us who will take this as an opportunity to work harder.Be a better person. Love more and forgive. Forgive those who aren't even sorry.
I leave you with Hillary Clinton's concession speech. A speech that had me crying for so many reasons. Setbacks and disappointments are things every human is familiar with but champions also fall. It makes us stronger.
